Brighten up your celebrations with these festoon lights
Diwali nights belong to the terrace. Friends, family, sweets, music and a sky full of firecrackers. But a concrete roof is flat when the sun goes down, and some well-placed festoon lights can fix that in minutes. Amazon has hundreds of string lights, so it requires patience to pick the best ones. Here are five options that play well for terrace parties: plug-in strings, a USB set and a tough rope light. They're simple to hang, good on the power bill and budget-friendly for festive budgets.

Three things to remember. Check the position of your plug point; a short cable can ruin a neat layout. Check out the weather rating. A terrace gets dew and sudden showers, so go IP65 for open spots and keep basic strings under a cover. Then decide on the glow. Warm white has a classy feel; multicolour is for a loud, dance-heavy party. First, measure your railings.
